Visual accessibility
The following resources can be requested at the museum reception:
Monocles et loupes à disposition du public malvoyant.
Water containers for assistance dogs.
It has a booklet in large characters and Braille with information about the Collection.
Loan materials are subject to a cleaning protocol after use. For the optical aids and the booklet it will be necessary to wear gloves (they are provided at the reception when requesting accessibility resources).
To make the exhibits more accessible, there are tactile reproductions or high-relief images of some works. With the accompaniment of MACBA staff, some works can be explored by touch.
* The tactile exploration is only available by requesting it in advance and with the accompaniment of MACBA staff, the use of gloves that are provided at the museum reception is mandatory.
The outstanding works have descriptive phrases that can be found on the MACBA APP
Physical accessibility
The MACBA has ramps, elevators that connect the different floors, and rest spaces with folding seats and chairs.
Adapted toilets.
Wheelchairs (2 units) that can be requested at the museum reception.
The lifts are for the exclusive use of people with reduced mobility. There are folding chairs that can be requested from the museum staff.
Visitors with reduced mobility can request a monocle at the museum reception to get closer to the works more easily.
Cognitive accessibility
Visits are offered for people with intellectual disabilities or comprehension support needs. They are participatory, dynamic and sensory activities, with adaptation of the speeches and content according to the characteristics of the group.
Other accessibility needs
MACBA offers activities and visits with accessibility supports for diverse groups, including people with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). The activities developed in this line are not focused on welcoming people with autism in the exhibition spaces, but on turning the museum into a space for artistic experimentation.
